Diverse Leaders in the Built Environment

The Diverse Leaders in the Built Environment conference will take place in London on Thursday 14th November.

Event background

Leadership teams across the built environment landscape have some way to go to in achieving a level of diversity which is truly representative of the populations they serve. Female, BAME, LGBT & disabled colleagues are significantly underrepresented in senior leadership positions across the built environment sector; from Housing & Planning, Real Estate to Construction & Property firms, much more needs to be done to correct the imbalance.

Worryingly, according to PwC, the proportion of women in middle management positions and upwards is dropping, with female colleagues making up only 30% of senior leaders compared with 32% in 2017. Meanwhile, just 1.2% of the industry come from BAME backgrounds, with significantly less in senior leadership positions.

Organised by Dods Parliamentary Communications and partnered by Women in Planning & Women Talk Real Estate, the unique Diverse Leaders in the Built Environment conference will explore ways to increase diversity amongst leadership teams whilst offering practical advice and coaching on how to further develop careers in times of change. We will discuss together how we can manage the challenges of modern leadership and help ensure we don’t lose momentum in recruiting, recognising and rewarding diverse leaders across the built environment sector.
